Alaska tries bear move

Alaska will sue the US government to stop the listing of the polar bear as a threatened species, saying the designation will slow development in the state, Governor Sarah Palin said on Wednesday.

Palin said the state will file a lawsuit in US District Court in Washington challenging US Interior Secretary Dirk Kempthorne's decision to grant protections to the polar bear.
