Torch relay in Sichuan postponed to Aug

The Olympic torch relay in quake-hit Sichuan province has been postponed from mid-June to early August, just before the Beijing Games starts, organizers announced yesterday.

The Sichuan leg, scheduled for June 15-18, will be from Aug 3 to 5 before the torch is brought to Beijing, according to a statement on the official website of BOCOG.

Changes will be made to the Sichuan route because the relay has been shortened from four days to three. No details are available.
