US Senate adopts quake resolution

The United States Senate on Monday adopted a resolution to mourn the victims of the Sichuan earthquake and to convey its deep condolences and support to the Chinese people.

"The Senate mourns the horrific loss of life and terrible human suffering caused by the earthquake in the People's Republic of China on May 12, 2008," the resolution said.

The resolution was jointly submitted by Barbara Boxer, a Democratic senator from California, and Lisa Murkowski, a Republican senator from Alaska.
