By Wu Jiao | China Daily | Updated: 2008-05-21 07:14

The government will build a DNA database of the unidentified bodies of the people who died in the quake, Civil Affairs Vice-Minister Jiang Li said yesterday.

The data can be used to identify the victims later, she said at a press conference organized by the State Council Information Office.

The ministries of Civil Affairs, Public Security and Health have sent experts to the quake-hit areas to supervise the handling of bodies.
