Love and care extended

There was no red carpet, no paparazzi, no award presented last night at China Central Television's (CCTV) studios.

But almost all the country's top film stars, singers and media leaders gathered there, making big donations and expressing their sympathy for the victims of last Monday's earthquake.

On the stage, Qu Yingpu, deputy editor-in-chief of China Daily, said: "Our paper is like a bridge of love and care, connecting the world and victims of the quake-hit areas."
