Food exhibition

A three-day 2008 Salon International de l'Alimentation (SIAL) opened in Shanghai yesterday, featuring European food products including dairy, fruit and vegetable as well as olive oils, wines and spirits.

"China's import of agricultural products and foods from the EU is increasing at a fast rate, but the Chinese market obviously still has a lot of potentials," said EU Ambassador to China Serge Abou, who attended the exhibit.

"It is our hope to introduce Europe's comprehensive food monitoring and marketing system to China, and present more European foods as well as their lifestyles," Abou said.
