US and DPRK urged to 'move toward each other'

By Li Xiaokun | China Daily | Updated: 2008-05-13 08:03

Vice-Foreign Minister Wang Yi yesterday spoke highly of Washington's recent contacts with Pyongyang on the denuclearization process of the Korean Peninsula and called on the two sides to "move toward each other" to progress further.

Wang made the remarks while meeting with visiting United States Deputy Secretary of State John Negroponte in Beijing.

During the discussions, Wang said he hoped the US and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) will continue the "pragmatic and flexible" attitude for a comprehensive and balanced implementation of the second phase of the Six-Party Talks at an early date.
