Fujita weathers storm to hold on to Pine Valley Beijing Open title

Japanese star Hiroyuki Fujita battled through a stormy, grueling day on the course before lifting the Pine Valley Beijing Open title yesterday.

Fujita shot his second consecutive even-par 72 in the final round for a three-stroke triumph in the $1 million event, which was sanctioned for the first time by the Japan Golf Tour, the Asian Tour and China Golf Association.

Chinese stars Zhang Lianwei and Li Chao shot 69 and 70, respectively, to finish as the top two local performers in the tournament.
