King of vehicles performs amazing high-wire stunt

Liu Suozhu became the "king of vehicles" after driving a car 230 m across two iron chains suspended 45 m above the Guluo River in Pingjiang, Hunan province, over the weekend.

Liu's stunt performance, which lasted about 30 minutes on Sunday morning, attracted more than 10,000 enthralled onlookers.

Liu is said to hold the record for driving the longest distance on iron chains.

The 48-year-old Henan province native was once a common company driver before he began driving on iron chains in 2001.

Old student proves it's never too late to learn

Xia Chimei, 51, has become both classmate and granny of kids at Xiping Primary School in Xuan'en county, Hubei province.

By far the oldest student at the school enrolled in first grade earlier this year.

She is now learning pinyin alongside children just six and seven years of age. Xia plans to finish primary school.

Encouraged by her husband and children, Xia decided to go to school when the new term began early this year.

She had never been to school in her life.
