Strategic partnership
Chinese copper tube maker Golden Dragon Group confirmed a strategic partnership with Standard Chartered, Goldman Sachs and Lehman Brothers yesterday. The three global financial firms jointly invested $90 million, getting a 25 percent in the Henan province-based company in March. The new board of directors will include eight members, with two of them from Standard Chartered, the company said.
Green expo in Qingdao
The first international expo on circular economy - concerned with environmental protection, pollution prevention and sustainable development - will be held in Qingdao between May 23 and 25. The National Development and Reform Commission and six ministries are jointly organizing the event. Exhibits at the expo will feature China's efforts in developing a resource-efficient economy and cutting edge technology.
Booming sales
China's building materials sector witnessed surging production and sales in the first quarter, helped by booming demand, improved export structure and increasing fixed-assets investment, the National Development and Reform Commission said.
Gross industrial output value of the sector hit 421 billion yuan in the first quarter, an increase of 34.6 percent year-on-year.
Japanese biometrics
The China E-Commerce Association recently announced it had adopted the PalmSecure, a biometric palm vein authentication device developed by Fujitsu, in its enterprise credit rating system. The move reportedly marked the first time the information security technology of the Japanese company was put into use in China.
Stainless steel seminar
The Fourth Asia Stainless Steel seminar, jointly organized by the UK Metal Bulletin and China Minmetals Corporation, will be held in Shanghai from June 16 to 18. About 300 people from stainless steel manufacturing, consumption, trade, logistics, technology and market research industries, banks, investment and insurance companies, will attend the seminar.
