Businesswoman proves early bird gets Nest view
Cai Ping, a woman from Heyuan, Guangdong province, has been renting an apartment near the Bird's Nest in Beijing for the past two years just so she can watch the Olympic Games.
The sports fanatic rented the apartment in September 2006 after finding the room on the Internet.
To ensure that the room was everything she hoped for, Cai, a businesswoman, flew to Beijing to make a site inspection before paying the deposit.
Her lease will run until the end of this year.
Cai said she stood by her decision since most of the rooms near the Games venues have been rented.

Stores told to pay for credit card oversight
Three stores in Zhongshan, Guangdong province, were ordered to pay 25,000 yuan ($3,600) in compensation on Thursday for accepting a credit card sale without first checking to see if the card was being used by the rightful owner.
A local man surnamed Chen sued the three stores after a thief charged 25,000 yuan to his credit card in February, 2007.
Chen said the stores should be responsible for his losses because they did not examine Chen's signature before allowing the imposter to use his credit card.
The Zhongshan Intermediate People's Court ruled in his favor.
