One phone number for all emergencies

Beijing is to announce a single phone number for emergency help this month.

The draft of the Implementation Regulation of the Law on Response to Emergencies is now under review by the standing committee of the 13th Beijing Municipal People's Congress, and is expected to be approved.

Luan Shubin, a press officer with the standing committee, said the regulation emphasizes a safe Beijing Summer Olympics and at developing a long-term mechanism for emergency help.
