Man weeps as freak accident kills dog

A man surnamed Duan broke down in tears when his pet dog was killed by a falling tree branch in Zhengzhou, capital of Henan province, on Wednesday.

The incident happened on Weisi Road. Duan was seen crying by the roadside while his dog lay bleeding.

Duan said he was deeply attached to his dog, He Tao, which was nine months old.

Duan had taken the dog out for a walk.

Student's star shines bright in business

Gong Shiwei, a 24-year-old university student, is the star on campus. He has established three companies in Wuhan, Hubei province, that have a total sales volume of more than 30 million yuan ($4.29 million) a year.

The student at Huazhong University of Science and Technology has set himself a goal - to build his companies into one of the top 500 in the country.

Gong, who does not come from a wealthy family, started his business by selling fireworks and MP3 players.

One of Gong's companies produces smart bank cards.
