Accusations at odds with fact

China Daily | Updated: 2008-04-26 07:41

The unreasonable scolding of China by some Western people will not distract China from the course of its development, says an article in People's Daily. The following is an excerpt:

China is far from the Western world and the two sides seem to be looking at each other through a telescope. Through the telescope, the Western world is clear and large for Chinese, while China is small and ugly for some of its Western counterparts. Why? Because they are looking through the wrong end.

China's peaceful development and fast growth benefit the world. Few Western people actually look through the wrong end of the telescope. Unfortunately, some have picked up a "magnifying glass", going out of their way to find fault with China even though they have little grasp of the country. As Beijing is hosting the Olympic Games, they deem it "a perfect chance" to disturb and curse China.
