Russian choreographer Boris Eifman will lead the Eifman Ballet of St Petersburg in their repertoire Red Giselle. Enjoying the title of The People's Artist of Russia, Eifman's production represents the grace of Russian ballet. The leading dancers are Vera Arbuzova, Yuri Ananyan and Albert Galichanin.

Poly Theater will host the drama Red Rose and White Rose. Adapted from Eileen Chang's novel of the same title, the latest version is directed by Tian Qinxin and performed by a young cast. This drama depicts Zhenbao's love story. There are two women in his life: his prim wife and a saucy mistress. Zhenbao describes them, respectively, as a white rose and a red rose in his life.

The romantic song Why the Flower is So Red was a hit in the 1970s. This concert, which shares the same name as the popular track, will feature a variety of veteran performers including Li Guangxi, Luo Tianchan and Liu Bingyi.

The Chinese Acrobatics Group, established in 1950, has toured more than 80 countries, won numerous international awards and has helped foster friendships between China and other nations. Its performance includes traditional acrobatics, a circus show, magic, old Beijing folk plays and more. The show blends music, dance, local opera and martial arts.

Portraits of Chinese Olympic champions give a panoramic view of China's participation. Shooter Xu Haifeng won the first Olympic gold medal for New China in 1984. Xu was followed by other stalwarts such as Liu Guoliang, Kong Linghui and Liu Xiang. On display are 134 portraits by photographer Pang Xiaowei.

Sculpture and sketch works of veteran artist Li Weisi. On display are his recent works on Lin Zexu, a national hero of the Qing Dynasty. Born in 1937 in Fujian province, Li graduated from the sculpture department of the Central Academy of Fine Arts in 1964.

Fine brushwork paintings of Sun Yumin, professor of Tsinghua University, show elaborate execution, simple composition and rich coloring. Representative works include The Quiet Birch Woods, Three Ladies and Green Tea.

The Beijing Custom series is composed of 34 figure paintings by Chen Shiceng (18761923). A famous artist and fine arts educator, Chen is a representative of the Jing School, a painting style popular in the early 20th century.

Brother-and-sister artists Yu Chen, Chen Yu and Chen Li appear together at Today Art Museum. Yu Chen's children series conveys a kind of innocence and post-modern spirit. Chen Yu overlaps the image of himself in queue to dramatic effect.

Zhu Jinshi's installation works are on show. Beginning his installation works as early as 1988 under the influence of German artists during his European stay, Zhu uses paper as the main material to convey his idea on history and tradition.

This exhibition is composed of 40 photographs of General Shao Hua and 46 pieces of photographs and oil paintings of Dutch artist Alwin van der Linde. Spanish-based artist Linde, born in 1957, held his first solo show when was 17 years old. His works cover such genres as landscape, portrait and artistic design. In recent years, Linde has dabbled in photography and music.

Young artist Wei Qingji holds his first solo exhibition at the Red Gate Gallery. He employs the plasticity of the medium to maintain the vitality of the subject matter. Images of animals serve as the focus, while the watered ink is employed to form the abstract scene of the background.

Li Gang's new work is titled Black Light, in which he explores his ideas through the interaction of photography and painting. These works stand alone as referencing nothing more than what they are - material, surface and form.

Tibetan culture and landscape give Chen Xiaoxiong's creations a unique and mysterious feel. The temples, red walls, golden domes and prayer drums, tall and erect sutra banners and the ever-turning prayer wheel give the works a solemn look.

The auction preview of China Guardian Spring Auctions runs from April 24-26 at Beijing's Kerry Center Hotel. On show are at least 5,800 artworks ranging from Chinese ink paintings, calligraphy, oil paintings, sculptures, photography, porcelain, rare and fine books, to Qing Dynasty sandalwood furniture, vintage stamps, ancient coins, and bronze mirrors. Auctions will run from April 27-29.

The Beijing Huachen Spring Auction preview will open with Chinese ink masterpieces, oil paintings, sculptures and vintage photos. Highlights of the exhibition include ink landscapes by master painters Qi Baishi and Li Keran, sculptural works by Dali, and oil works by Renoir, Monet and Picasso. Some vintage photos of the Old Summer Palace will also be on show. The auctions will be held from April 28-29.

Jan Peter Van Opheusden from the Netherlands is holding his solo exhibition entitled I Love You. Being a bohemian by nature, the teacher-turned artist realized that he was a free spirit, creating his own emotional environment.

Unleashing himself from educational burdens but in every aspect aware of being part of a rich and long lasting Dutch and French painting tradition, he developed a style of painting that is strongly related to impressionism and fauvism. Some of his paintings are inspired by ancient Chinese poems.
