Referred to as "little Teresa Teng," Japanese-Chinese singer Chen Yajuan is known for her skilled imitation of the sophisticated sounds and singing techniques of the original Teresa Teng, a Taiwan singer well known by Chinese worldwide for three decades. More than 20 popular songs by Teng will be performed at the concert.

The drama Madame Bovary is Me is the adaptation of the French writer Gustave Flaubert's novel Madam Bovary. It depicts the loves and hatred of women celebrities in Taiwan. The sarcastic humor makes the drama light but thought-provoking.

A new version of Puccini's world famous opera Turandot created by NCPA will be presented by the Shanghai Opera House at Shanghai Grand Theater. It's the first time that a Chinese composer has written the sequel to Puccini's most important work. The sequel was written to show Chinese artists' respect for the master on the 150th anniversary of his birth.

CONCERTS
The Eurovision Song Contest's 1995 winners, Secret Garden will perform at the opening of the Shanghai International Spring Music Festival. The Norwegian group who won with the groundbreaking instrumental piece Nocturne, are currently touring China.

The Shanghai Music Troupe has adapted songs from the four Chinese classic novels The Romance of Three Kingdoms, A Dream of the Red Chamber, Journey to the West, and Outlaws of the Marsh, combining traditional elements with modern electronic music.

Eason Chan, the pop idol from Hong Kong, will perform at Shanghai Stadium. Last October, 16 of his concerts in Hong Kong sold out in a few hours. Shanghai is the first stop of Chan's upcoming Chinese mainland tour.

Exhibitions
Tang Zhiyi, a lacquer painter from Fujian province, is hosting a solo exhibition at the No 1 Clubhouse of Xintiandi. Tang's painting, depicting village women expecting the return of a fishing boat, won the gold award at the 10th National Art Exhibition and is now part of the National Art Museum of China's collection.

The exhibition Salvatore Ferragamo's Evolving Legend 1928-2008 is one of the most talked about displays in Shanghai. In honor of the event, MoCA Shanghai invites parents and budding young designers to learn how to decorate shoes. For children aged 4-12 years old.
