EU-China: A strategic partnership

As the Commissioner for the EU's External Relations, I have the unique opportunity to witness the many and varied progress of the EU-China comprehensive strategic partnership.

Chinese and European citizens have much in common: They share both hopes for the future, pride about their achievements but also concerns about issues such as environmental pollution and food price inflation that impact their lives today. It is useful to constantly keep this in mind - no matter the miles that separate us - we are partners in a rapidly changing world.

China and the EU are two of the world's global leaders. Together, we face unique challenges that have never before been seen in human history. Facing up to these challenges will require a similarly unique commitment to lead together.
