Non-financial investment rises 6%

Direct investment abroad in the non-financial sector increased slightly last year from a year earlier, but investors are being warned of possible risks in overseas markets.

Overseas investment hit $18.7 billion last year, up 6.2 percent year-on-year, Wang Shengwen, deputy director of the commerce ministry's foreign economic cooperation department, told the second Chinese Enterprise Outbound Investment Conference in Beijing yesterday.

The meeting was organized by the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade and the Ministry of Commerce.
