Nepalese king denies he will go into exile

Nepal's King Gyanendra has denied reports that he will leave the country ruled for centuries by his ancestors and go into exile, his office said yesterday.

The king's press office said in a statement that the reports in Indian media, including the Times of India newspaper, were "totally fabricated and unfounded."

Gyanendra has no plans to leave the country, a palace official also said.
