Growing demand for counseling

According to statistics from the Ministry of Public Health, there are currently more than 16 million psychological disorder patients in China and about 30 million young Chinese suffer from depression. As a result, the demand for psychological services is growing rapidly.

Founded in 2000, the Beijing Psychcn Psychological Training Center (BPPTC) started a correspondence psychology course in 2003.

Over the past five years, more than 20,000 adults aged between 25 and 70 have become qualified psychology consultants via the one-year program. The BPPTC has also trained 150 prison warders in the city since 2004.
