Fortune beckons
Fortune Palace (福宫), a restaurant specializing in Cantonese, Shanghai and Sichuan foods, has just revamped its menu, and introduced a range of new creations. According to executive chef Yu Weiguo, the new menu will be available at the end of April.
"We've added many new dishes that are popular and stylish," says Yu, adding that his inspiration was food magazines. On the cards are some 10 new Cantonese dishes that are popular bestsellers in Guangdong, and eight new Sichuan dishes.
Some examples: sweet and spicy Kong Pao fried shrimp balls (宫保虾球), deep-fried cod with spring onion served on bamboo net (竹香银鳕鱼), and fried crab roe with starch noodles (蟹粉炒银丝). The dishes are delicately seasoned and elaborately presented. The cod is deep-fried with spring onion and has a strong flavor.
