Rice: Progress made on DPRK nuke issue

China Daily | Updated: 2008-04-18 07:27

WASHINGTON: US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice said yesterday that progress has been made on the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK)'s nuclear issue, but more needs to be done.

"Have we made progress through the six-party framework? Yes. Is there still reason for caution and skepticism? Yes," Rice said during a briefing at the State Department.

"North Korea (DPRK) is disabling its Yongbyon nuclear facility, and we are in the second phase of our implementation agreement to denuclearize the Korean Peninsula," she said.
