Security step-up

The Ministry of Public Security said yesterday it will step up a campaign from this month to October to ensure safety for the Beijing Olympics.

Measures will be taken to protect electronic facilities, and oil and gas depots. Special attention will also be paid to the security of public recreational areas, hotels and leased housing. Illegal weapons and explosives will be seized, it said.
