Peruvian president backs Beijing Olympics

Peruvian President Alan Garcia has spoken highly of China's development and condemned attempts to disrupt the Beijing Olympic Games in a comment published in Peru's El Comercio.

Hosting the Olympics is a great opportunity for China to showcase its remarkable achievements since the country's adoption of market reforms and opening up, Garcia said.

However, international anti-China forces are using the Tibet and Taiwan issues to disrupt the Beijing Games and tarnish the image of China, he said.
