UN ambassador to resign

The Afghan-born US ambassador to the United Nations, Zalmay Khalilzad, has said he will resign within months and again rejected suggestions he might run for president in his country of birth.

In an interview with Afghanistan's Ariana television station in New York, Khalilzad said he would quit as US envoy to the United Nations in "several months" and would begin "personal work" but did not elaborate on it.
