US House resolution criticized

By Xiao Yang | China Daily | Updated: 2008-04-11 07:33

China yesterday renounced a resolution introduced into the United States House of Representatives on Wednesday, which demands international investigations of Tibet, saying it "smeared" China and applied "unreasonable pressure" on the country.

"We have seen many illegal and violent riots in several European and US cities, and I would like to ask how the governments there have handled them and how other countries responded?" Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Jiang Yu said at a regular briefing.

"Why is it that they have taken such a different attitude toward the Chinese government?"
