Violence mars election
Violence killed eight people ahead of a landmark Nepal election meant to cement a peace deal with communist insurgents, raising concerns the polls could usher in even more bloodshed.
In the run-up to today's vote, officials said one candidate had been mysteriously gunned down, a protester was shot by police and six former rebels were slain in a clash with security forces.
