The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has launched Strategy 2020, a long-term plan to free the Asia and Pacific region of poverty.
To fight poverty in a region of more than 600 million people surviving on $1 a day, the strategy will re-focus ADB operations on three major development agendas - inclusive economic growth, environmentally sustainable growth, and regional integration.
It is mapped out on the back of ADB's long-term strategic framework for 2001-15, released in 2000, which took sustainable economic growth, inclusive social development and governance for effective policies and institutions as it core targets.
