The provincial government of Jilin in northeast China has promised to do good deeds in eight fields this year to improve people's lives, according to Wang Min, Party leader of Jilin province, who outlined the measures to be taken:
This year Jilin province is determined to help 420,000 urban residents find jobs and create another 100,000 positions to benefit locals, Wang said. Families with all adults unemployed will be assisted and children of low-income families will be guaranteed free job training.
The subsistence allowance for low-income families will be raised. Such families in the countryside will receive 420 yuan yearly each person, up from 360 yuan. Those in urban areas will receive 100 yuan a month each person, 15 yuan more than last year.
