Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd will be visiting China from April 9-12. Two weeks ago, China Central Television's (CCTV) Rui Chenggang interviewed Rudd, the first time Chinese mainland media interviewed a foreign leader in Chinese. The meeting was broadcast last night on CCTV-2. Below is an excerpt.

Q: We are eagerly expecting your first visit to China as prime minister. You have lots of friends in China, along with many Chinese people who are eager to know more about you. Do you have any special gifts for them?

A: I have brought the amity from Australia, that is my gift.
