Beijing
My first taste of Jiangzhe (Jiangsu and Zhejiang) cuisine was of a cheap bottle of Huadiao, yellow rice wine, in my college years in Nanjing, capital of Jiangsu. The wine tasted so strange that I didn't try it again for some time.
Years later in Beijing, I tried yellow rice wine again, drunk with a cup warmed in hot water. It was a hearty and hilarious drinking experience. Moreover, it made me realize that I should be more open to different cuisines, because you never know if what you first tried was authentic.
