US urged to stop arms sales to Taiwan

Defense Minister Liang Guanglie yesterday urged the United States to sever military links with Taiwan and stop selling weapons to the island.

Liang made the remarks in a meeting with US Marine Corps Commandant James Conway in Beijing.

Liang called on Washington to continue adhering to the one-China policy, honor its commitment to the opposition of "Taiwan independence" and abide by the three Sino-US joint communiqus to maintain peace and stability across the Taiwan Straits.
