China Daily | Updated: 2008-04-01 07:34

The families of two women killed in the March 14 Lhasa riots have each received 200,000 yuan ($28,200) in compensation, the Tibet regional government said yesterday.

The government has promised to give the same amount to each of the families of the 18 civilians killed in the unrest.

The families of He Xinxin and Cering Zhoigar, two of the five saleswomen burned to death in a clothes shop during the riot, were the first to receive the money.
