Bank thieves executed in Hebei

SHIJIAZHUANG: Two bank employees responsible for China's largest bank theft - 50.95 million yuan ($7.28 million) - were executed in Handan, Hebei province, yesterday.

The death sentence was approved by the Supreme People's Court, a spokesman for the Handan municipal intermediate people's court said yesterday.

Ren Xiaofeng, 35, and Ma Xiangjing, 38, who worked as vault managers at the Handan branch of Agricultural Bank of China in Hebei, were convicted of theft and given death penalties on Aug 9. Their appeals were rejected.
