Maguire and Day squeeze into semis

Stephen Maguire raced to a 5-0 victory over Nigel Bond at the Snooker China Open on Friday to move within two wins of his second ranking title of the season.

Maguire, who won the Northern Ireland Trophy in November, took just 96 minutes to see off the challenge of Bond, who was contesting his first ranking quarterfinal in five years.

The Glaswegian rattled in breaks of 65, 57, 52, 105 and 55 in booking a semifinal against Ryan Day. Maguire has been arguably snooker's most consistent performer this season and is determined to add to his career tally of three ranking titles.
