China's International Fashion Week, featuring the 2008 and 2009 Autumn Winter Collection, opened in Beijing on March 25 and will last till March 31. The event includes a design competition, runway shows and press conferences. On its opening day, 30 young fashion designers from 16 countries cruised into the final round at the 16th Hampel Award China International Young Designer Contest displaying their works with the theme of Chinese Character.
Graduates from the Beijing Institute of Clothing Technology also showed off their works on the opening day. The new-generation designers presented 171 sets of clothes in four sections titled Rhythmic Fun, Original Creation, Modern City and Artistic Orient.
More than 500 models will feature in nearly 40 collections of almost 30 fashion brands dressed in ready-to-wear, fashion, lingerie and shoes by over 20 designers. There will also be three fashion design contests, three fashion shows and cosmetics from famous fashion institutes as well as lectures to foreign and domestic medias, buyers and personages.
Meanwhile, CHIC 2008 (16th China International Clothing and Accessories Fair) will be held at the newly-built China International Exhibition Center (CIEC) in Shunyi district from March 28 to 31. The fair will be spread over eight halls, covering 100,000 sq m, displaying men's wear, women's wear, children's wear, leather and fur, down wear, knit wear and accessories.
