Wheelchair rugby
China Daily | Updated: 2008-03-28 07:46
This unique sport combines elements of basketball, handball and ice hockey. The object of the game is to carry the ball across the opposing team's goal line. Two wheels must cross the goal line for a goal to count, and the player must have firm control of the ball when he or she crosses the line.
The game is played indoors on a regulation-sized basketball court. The basketball key area is replaced by a wheelchair rugby key 8 m wide and 1.75 m deep.
Teams are made up of four players and up to eight substitutes. Games consist of four 8-minute quarters.
