Officials go head to head for top posts

Sixteen candidates will compete in a knockout-style debate tomorrow morning for the four remaining director-general positions within the Nanjing municipal government, the Yangtze Evening Post reported yesterday.

The event will be broadcast live on the news channel of the city's municipal TV station.

The event marks the first time Nanjing, capital of Jiangsu province, has used a process of public selection to determine its senior government leaders.
