Young police tortured by visions, bellyful of glass

A police officer in Nanjing, Jiangsu province, was sent to hospital after eating broken glass in an attempt to banish memories of the horrid sights he had seen on the job.

The officer graduated from a well-known school and just recently became a cop. Over the past two months, he has handled nearly 10 traffic accidents. In one accident, a person's head had been smashed.

Tortured by the scene, the officer started eating buns filled with broken glass.

Wang Zeqing, an expert in police psychology at the Ministry of Public Security, said accidents have a very negative impact on young officers and called for a center to be set up to address the problem.

Fear of dogs ends man's first foray into crime

Zhu Ming, a 27-year-old construction worker from Anhui province, recently decided he had had enough manual labor in Nanjing, Jiangsu province.

Fed up with his demanding job, he quit and went out in search of gainful employment. Early last Saturday, he decided he should find something to sell in order to raise a little money.

He snuck into a warehouse and found a cell phone sitting on a windowsill, but that's when he spotted the dogs.

Zhu has had a morbid fear of dogs since childhood and was so scared that he fainted on the spot. The phone's owner found the thief.
