Lovers jump into moat in drunken suicide bid

Late on the evening of March 8, two lovers in Dongying, Shandong province, jumped into the city moat in an attempt to commit suicide.

Police rushed to the scene and found the two locked in an embrace and floating down the river. Within several minutes, police used ropes to pull them out of the river and sent them to hospital. Although water had entered their lungs, they were out of danger, medics said.
