EU treaty to be ratified

Poland should ratify the European Union's reforming treaty in parliament by end-April, President Lech Kaczynski said yesterday, easing his tone in a heated dispute over the charter.

A recent row in parliament, caused by conservative opposition's threats to block the vote, prompted Prime Minister Donald Tusk on Wednesday to warn he could call a referendum.
