Thaksin ally under probe

Thailand's Supreme Court agreed yesterday to hear a case against a senior member of the ruling People Power Party (PPP) accused of buying votes in a December poll, which could lead to the party's dissolution.

A three-judge panel agreed to consider the case against PPP deputy leader Yongyut Tiyapairat, who stepped down as speaker of parliament after the Election Commission (EC) sent its findings to the court in February.
