Foreign minister talks with Rice

Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi talked to US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice over the phone yesterday and exchanged views on Sino-US relations.

Yang briefed his US counterpart on the recent riots in Lhasa, capital of the Tibet autonomous region.

The rioters' violent crimes were designed to exert pressure on the Chinese government, disturb the 2008 Beijing Olympics and sabotage China's social stability and harmony, Yang said.
