The Story of Chunqin is based on a tragic romance story from traditional Japanese literature. Chunqin is a charming but bad-tempered girl who isolates herself from the outside world because of her blindness. Her life changes when her servant falls in love with her. Chinese with English subtitles.

A thriller directed by Lai Shengchuan (Stan Lai) will be staged at the Shanghai Grand Theater, following the success of Secret Love in Peach Blossom Land and Total Woman. The plot of Like Shadows (Ru Ying Shui Xing) follows the life of a troubled teenage girl, who is investigating the cause of her mother's death and her father's mysterious disappearance. In the process she becomes capable of communicating with the spirit world. Chinese, with no subtitles.

Yongju (Ningbo Opera) Wife Lending is an adaptation of the Chinese novel For Slaver's Mother. It was written by Rou Shi, a martyr who gave his life to the liberation of China. The play tells the story of the miserable life of a woman in Zhejiang province in the early 20th century. She was sold to a rich man whose wife was unable to conceive. The opera employs ballet dancing and a lot of body language, which is regarded as a creative development of Yongju Opera. With Chinese and English subtitles.

CONCERTS
Maroon 5 are Adam Levine (vocals, guitar), James Valentine (guitar), Jesse Carmichael (keyboard), Mickey Madden (bass) and Matt Flynn (drums). Their debut album, Songs About Jane, earned the 2005 Grammy Award for Best New Artist. Their second album, It Won't Be Soon Before Long, debuted at No 1 with 430,000 copies sold during the album's first week in US stores. The band is going to be in the city for its first performance in China, as part of a 2007-2008 world tour.

The International Festival Chorus (IFC), now entering its fifth year on the Shanghai music scene, is composed of singers from all walks of life and from some 20 nations, including China and Iceland. This spring, the IFC has invited the Cornell University Chorus to join them in a unique performance of Ein Deutsches Requiem which took Johannes Brahms over 11 years to write.

Exhibitions
The exhibition My Shanghai displays photographs taken by sixth-grade students from Jinhu Primary School, a school for children of migrant workers in Shanghai. Under the instruction of art teachers and volunteers, students were given cameras to capture images of their daily lives, their families, friends and ideas of hope. Photographs are available for purchase and the money will go towards Jinhu Primary School.
