Help sought for fatherless Delta kids
People's congress deputies from Guangdong province and Hong Kong special administrative region have urged their governments to introduce measures to help the illegitimate children of Hong Kong residents overcome their difficulties.
According to statistics, there are more than 50,000 such "black children" in the Pearl River Delta area in Guangdong province.
They are aged between two months old and 14 years old.
The children, whose fathers are Hong Kong residents and their mothers mainlanders, do not have access to mainland medical care and other social and educational welfare because they do not have hukou, or household registration.
