Chaos threatened life and security

A veteran Tibetan official said yesterday the recent riots in Lhasa posed a severe threat to social stability and people's lives.
The violence, which included beating, smashing, looting and arson, severely threatened the lives of Lhasa residents and caused significant property damage, said Ragdi, vice-chairman of the Standing Committee of the 10th National People's Congress (NPC).
On Friday, violence involving physical assault, destruction of property, looting and arson broke out in urban Lhasa.
