Cao Jianmin
An ethnic Han, born in September 1955, a native of Nantong of Jiangsu province. Joined the Communist Party of China in December 1973. Started working in December 1972. Graduated with a major in international law from the East China University of Political Science and Law. Received a post-graduate education, a master of laws and became a professor.
Member of the CPC Central Committee, procurator-general of the Supreme People's Procuratorate.
1972-75 Worked at Qianjin Eatery under the food and drink company of Shanghai's Jing'an district. Deputy Party branch secretary of the company's Xiangyang Restaurant, deputy secretary of the company's committee of the Communist Youth League.
1975-79 Head of the political work section of the health division of the Shanghai municipal health department.
1979-83 Studied law at the East China University of Political Science and Law.
1983-86 Post-graduate student in international law at the international law department of the East China University of Political Science and Law.
1986-86 Teacher and administrator at the international law department of the East China University of Political Science and Law.
1986-95 Deputy director and director of the international law department of the East China University of Political Science and Law (visiting scholar at Ghent University, Belgium, in 1988-89; invited to give lectures at the University of San Francisco, in July-December 1990).
1995-97 Deputy secretary of the CPC committee and executive vice-president of the East China University of Political Science and Law.
1997-99 President and deputy secretary of the CPC committee of the East China University of Political Science and Law (in charge of the university's CPC committee in October 1998).
1999-2002 Vice-president and member of the Leading Party Members' Group of the Supreme People's Court. Member of the court's judicial committee and concurrently president of the National Judges College (Studied at the Party School of the CPC Central Committee in the training class for provincial and ministerial-level cadres in March-May 2001).
2002-03 Vice-president and deputy secretary of the Leading Party Members' Group of the Supreme People's Court (ministerial level). Member of the court's judicial committee and concurrently president of the National Judges College.
2003-08 Vice-president and deputy secretary of the Leading Party Members' Group of the Supreme People's Court. Member of the court's judicial committee.
2008 Elected procurator-general of the Supreme People's Procuratorate.
Alternate member of the 16th CPC Central Committee. Member of the 17th CPC Central Committee.
