The song always rises

Five years has passed since Sun Heng helped form the Young Workers' Culture and Artistic Troupe, a group striving to improve the legal rights of migrant workers.

While creating wealth in the areas they work, and taking part in major projects, such as the National Olympic Stadium, these workers have not fully benefited from economic development. They also do not receive the same social security benefits and educational opportunity as local citizens.

One of the ways Sun and his friends raised awareness of the migrant workers' plight was through the power of music. In 2004 the group cut its first album, Migrant Workers are United as One Family. It was a hit and the profits were used to set up a primary school in Beijing for the children of migrant workers.
