Flames of desire
It really whets one's appetite to see the food being prepared at a teppanyaki restaurant. The food sizzles
on the iron plate, right in front of you. The chef waves a scoop up and down to season it with garlic, salt and pepper and the fragrance is thoroughly enticing. Uama Teppanyaki Restaurant (雅玛铁板烧) has opened a new branch near the Asian Games Village, where they offer two sets of buffet in all-you-can-eat style. For 288 yuan, one gets unlimited access to baby lobster, abalone, sirloin and rib eye steak, prawn, cod, and French liver. A cheaper buffet at 158 yuan offers flambe sirloin, lamb chop, oyster, trumpet shell, and a smaller kind of prawn. Both buffets offer unlimited sashimi, sushi, vegetables, fried rice, noodles, Japanese sake, Chinese wine, Yanjing beer, cocoa, coffee and tea. Top-level kobe costs 988 yuan per 200 grams. There's also Australian king lobster, king crab, matsutake, and the best of scallop and goose liver. The restaurant's decor is simple and clean. There are private rooms both on the ground floor and in the basement. Menu is in both Chinese and English, with color illustrations. Buffet is 288 yuan or 158 yuan per person. The service is adequate.
