At a recent press conference for the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), Liu Yingxia, a member of the national committee of the CPPCC and a role model of the emerging new social class, told the media that as a member of the CPPCC representing this new group, she would not speak only for the rich and would not allow her wealth to make her selfish.

The population of the new social group has surged to 75 million. As much as 10 trillion yuan ($1.41 trillion) worth of assets are under the control of the members of this new stratum. The group has already become a key force in the economic growth and social development of China, both as a result of its size and the role it has played.
